Wrath - Shark Hunt Diorama

This project aimed to reflect the sin of wrath through a singular 4K shot.

Media inspirations for the project derive from Jaws (1975) and the video game Maneater (2020). The stories told from these inspirations reflect the theme of vengeance, as a result of the event of shark attack(s). Of course, because it is reflective of a human sin, situations like these can be seen in historical events too, such as the 1916 Jersey Shore shark attacks - resulting in the mass killing of sharks.

This project was made for the second semester of my Masters Games Art course, as part of the Experimental Visual Storytelling module at University of Staffordshire. The requirements of the project were to focus on optimising a scene, with minimal assets, for a singular 4K shot - unveiling a story of our own to be told. The story had to be centered around one of the seven deadly sins, where I chose Wrath because the relating imagery and themes inspired this story specifically.

Five texture sets were used for this scene in total but this project also allowed me to explore shader work too, to make the most of a singular shot and push the visual result beyond my previous projects. Shader work was used for the blood in the ocean, as well as the bottles and windows too (to better replicate realistic glass).
